clozed loop™
Packaging in a closed-loop system
In a closed material loop, packaging is collected after use, recycled and processed into new products of equal value. Taking this approach allows you to secure raw materials, reduce costs and make a measurable contribution to greater sustainability.
Close the loop and enjoy the benefits:
- Predictable material availability even during market volatility
- Measurable CO₂ and resource savings
- Legal compliance from 2030 (PPWR)
Mandatory from 2030 –
take action today
clozed loop™ helps ensure that used packaging isn’t simply thrown away or recycled at an inferior quality, but is instead specifically and efficiently returned to the same cycle or one of equal value. This approach keeps valuable materials in the system and enables them to be reused multiple times. For producers, this represents a tremendous opportunity: they retain control over the materials they use and can specifically reuse them.
Recycled content rates of 10% – 35%
The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) stipulates that, depending on the type, plastic packaging must contain at least 10% – 35% post-consumer recycled material (PCR) from 2030 onwards.
However, the average amount of recycled content in plastic packaging across all producers in Germany is currently only around 9% (see Conversio study, 2024).

Avoid shortages with clozed loop™
Demand for PCR is expected to reach 2.96 million tonnes by 2030 – but only 2.09 million tonnes are likely to be available. This shortfall of around 861,000 tonnes could result in increasing price pressure, material shortages and compliance risks.
Use clozed loop™ to secure your supply in the long term, reduce cost risks and reliably meet compliance requirements.

A circular economy for your own recycled material:
With a closed material loop, used packaging becomes valuable secondary raw materials.
The benefits for you: secure access to your own recycled material, reduce your vulnerability to market fluctuations and plan with long-term certainty.
The benefits for you: secure access to your own recycled material, reduce your vulnerability to market fluctuations and plan with long-term certainty.
1) Take-back and collection
- Targeted collection:
Used packaging is collected via retailers, end customers or your own take-back systems and returned to the cycle. - Careful sorting:
Structured collection and sorting ensures that the individual materials remain unmixed. - High material purity:
This is the only way to ensure the quality required to recover high-grade recycled material from packaging.

2) Recycling pre-sorted materials
- Mechanical recycling:
The different types of packaging collected are processed separately in specialised facilities. - High-quality PCR:
The aim is to recover post-consumer recycled material with properties that meet the requirements for new packaging. - Quality assurance:
Continuous testing ensures that standards remain consistently high.
3) Use of secondary raw materials
- Using recycled materials in production:
The secondary material recovered is fed directly into the process for manufacturing new packaging. -
Closed loop:
The result is a sustainable system in which materials are used multiple times. -
Planning certainty:
Your supply of raw materials remains secure in the long term – unaffected by market volatility.
From idea to implementation
For a circular system like this to work, the right framework must be in place. The strategy for establishing these conditions can be divided into three steps:
Step 1
Evaluate
Analysis of your packaging, material flows and take-back channels.
Result
We can analyse your specific products and packaging to determine their recyclability. The assessment will show how effectively the materials used can be kept within a closed loop and identify areas where there is potential for optimisation to further improve sustainability.
Step 2
Optimise
Improving recyclability and ensuring material quality – through the careful selection of materials, design for recycling and efficient logistics to arrive at an optimised concept that combines technical, logistical and economic factors.
Result
Based on the evaluation, we can develop tailor-made solutions to optimise your packaging processes. We will assess whether participation in the dual system is applicable or whether bespoke take-back solutions need to be put in place to create a closed resource cycle.
Step 3
Implement
Establishment of take-back, recycling and production structures, including documentation and monitoring.
Result
On completion of a successful test phase, clozed loop™ can be fully implemented. All the parties involved will be coordinated, and the recycling process for products and packaging will be continuously monitored and adjusted as needed to ensure long-term success.
Case study:
Paint buckets
Our bucket loop demonstrates just how simple and effective a closed material cycle can be in practice.
Take-back
At the end of their service life, empty paint buckets are returned to specialist retailers or paint shops or, in the case of larger quantities, collected directly from the customer. The used paint buckets are then compressed into bales for transport. This ensures that the containers are specifically returned to the cycle.
Processing
The compressed paint buckets are delivered to the processing plant, where they are cleaned, shredded and turned into recyclate. The plastic is converted into high-quality pellets of secondary raw material, which are the basis for new paint buckets.
Production
Once the recyclate (recycled plastic) has been analysed and approved, it can be used directly in production. The new paint buckets made from this material are identical to the original ones in terms of quality and function – the loop is closed.
